Richmond's First Baptist Church is a unique congregation where people from diverse cultural, ethnic, economic and religious backgrounds join together to put God’s love in action. All find a home in our church with opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, and service.

Our people celebrate and draw strength from our diversity, which finds its unity in the Lord Jesus Christ. We embrace an international perspective with more than ten different languages spoken among our members. Men and women serve as deacons and as ordained staff in leading services and preaching sermons.

Dr. Somerville takes a break this week from his 'When in Romans' sermon series to talk about a problem that everyone will recognize is happening in our country, and that is the fracturing of our society into like-minded communities of people who share similar ways of life, beliefs and politics.  To do this as a church weakens the entire edifice, and Dr. Somerville uses Pauls words from 1 Corinthians 12 to encourage us by understanding that the body is strongest when it has all of it's various parts together.  Society is as well when people come together in unity.  Enjoy this timely message!
